About Talk Soon

Amy, a queer New Yorker, is trying to reconnect with their stoic Midwestern dad in the wake of their brother’s passing. And their dad wants to connect. But there’s distance and difference, so they start by talking about simple things. The weather. Old movies. They develop a rhythm that gets interrupted when Dad doesn’t quite know what to make of Amy’s vibrant New York life. But Amy insists on opening up. And Dad, when needed most, rises to the occasion. In the end, we find that showing up for each other in small ways results in a closeness that can’t just be asked for, but earned.
